Trail Trek Hike in Berkeley May 19

Join us for our final Trail Trek hike of the season on Saturday May 19 when we hike Wildcat Peak in Berkeley’s Tilden Park. This is a fun up and down hike with great visual scenes, including spectacular 360 degree view of the Bay once you reach the top. A walk through several Biomes.

Please arrive promptly at 10 am. We will Begin our hike at 10:30 am.

We will meet at:
Environmental Education Center.
Tilden Little Farm and Nature Study Area
Central Park Drive
Berkeley, CA 94708

Allow extra time to arrive at this location. Can be confusing getting there. 34.5 miles and 48 minutes from Nicolet avenue. Best to leave by 9am to allow extra “possibly lost” time.

Suggested age:
Wolf Cubs through Webelos. There is quite a bit for non-hikers to do as they wait at the EEC for hikers.

Next Pack Meeting on May 1st

Trail Trek Hike in Sunol on April 29

Sunday, April 29 - Trail Trek Hike at Little Yosemite, Sunol Regional Park. Our website has more info about this hike including directions and maps.

Please arrive promptly at 1300 hrs (1 pm).
Park next to the footbridge. If there is no parking at the footbridge, park in the adjacent equestrian parking area.
Hike begins soon thereafter in 15 minutes.

This is a early afternoon hike so please be prepared to bring enough water for scout & parent. We will take a snack/break at Little Yosemite. There is also a restroom there. You will be in for a pleasant surprise when we reach our destination. You have to join our hike to see.

This hike is open to all. Tigers to Webelos.

USS Hornet Overnight

Our Pack had a great overnight on the USS Hornet this weekend. The “crew” got to sleep on the ship and also explore the many fascinating details of this Navy vessel. Thanks to event organized Kristina Ahuja and our official adult leader Jim Dalton for helping to make this a great event. Plus a thanks to all the parents who attended the event with their Scouts!

Geocache Hike at Quarry Lakes - March 11

Geocaching is the “sport” of finding hidden treasures (”caches”) using GPS receivers (including many smartphones). On March 11 we will head to Quarry Lakes Regional Park for some treasure hunting. We did a geocache hike at Coyote Hills in 2009.

Where: Quarry Lakes Regional Park, Fremont. Meeting near the south parking area adjacent to Rainbow Lake (shown with red X).

When: Sunday, March 11 at 1 pm

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Royal House of Pack 163 summons Thy Noble Presence at the Joyous Regale of the Blue and Gold Banquet.

Much Feasting, Magic and Merriment will ensue!

Festivities start at 6pm sharp. Magic show at 7:15pm
Friends and Family are invited.
Pack will provide Desserts, Drinks and Pizzas for the Kids
Please bring a dish for the potluck (Appetizer, salad, main dish).
Bring enough food for your family + 50% (For a family of 4, bring enough for 6)

Pinewood Derby - Feb 10

Cubs, Start your engines! Our annual Pinewood Derby is on Friday, February 10.

Timeline:

5:00 pm - Track and event set up begins.
6:00 pm - Scouts/parents arrive for car check-in.
6:45 pm - Flag Ceremony and racing start.

Cubmaster Robert will be the M.C for the evening which will include:

A Snack Bar
1st, 2nd and 3rd place Trophies (Overall)
1st and 2nd place medals within a rank
Participation Ribbons

Webelos Dens Hike Flag Hill

Our two Webelos dens had an outing today to hike Flag Hill in Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park. This is a steep hill, so it’s recommended for older Cub Scouts. We had great weather and dry ground for our hike. We started in the valley floor and made it up the 1.6 mile hike in just 51 minutes! At the top we took a break for lunch and great company. We took gentler trails on the way down.
