Popcorn Fundraiser

We begin another new Scouting year, and I would like to invite all of you to the Popcorn Kick Off meeting. We are tentatively set for Wednesday, September 21st @ 7:00 pm at Brookvale school. Please mark this date in on your calendars.

At the meeting we will touch on a the concept, fun and benefit of the popcorn sales that we do each year. Remember, that popcorn sales are what help allow our Pack to do a lot of the special events such as the Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Dinner as well as provide for the awards, books and scarves. This is also what keeps our annual dues down as well.

At the meeting we will primarily focus on our Show and Sell that we have at Lowe’s hardware this year. Currently we have October 8th & 9th set up for the Show and Sell event.. We will be selling from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on all both dates. Each shift will consist of two hours and I would like to have an upper level Scout paired with a young Scout.  I will have a sign up sheet at the Kick-off meeting and hope to fill it up.

As with last year, we will take the total amount of popcorn sold during the Show and Sell and divide that amount between the Scouts that work at the event. This also means that if you sign up for more than one time slot, then you will receive a larger share to go towards your dollar prize amount.

Yes, we will be doing prizes again this year, just like we did last year. The really cool thing this year is that if you sell online, it also goes towards your dollar prize amount. This should really help those with relatives and friends that live far away and want to help out their Scout.

• Magic of Scouting patch

I will also be handing out the Take Order forms (door-to door and company sales) at the meeting so that you can all get started selling popcorn as early as you want. The forms will also familiarize you with the product this year (some changes were made) as well as give the Scouts a glimpse at the prizes available.

Pack 163 2011 Popcorn Show & Sell at Lowe’s

This year we will be holding our Popcorn Show & Sell at Lowe’s on October 8th and 9th in front of the store at Pacific Commons in Fremont. The store hours are from 8 am to 6 pm each day. We would like to have two adults and two scouts at the booth during that time. Please sign up for one or more of the time slots below to help out pack. Don’t be shy, you can sign up for more than one time slot. It will be an excellent opportunity to help out the pack and meet with other adults and Scouts.

Three Primary Components

Take-Orders: Boys talk to friends, neighbors, church members, and others try ask them to buy popcorn. They may even go door-to-door with adult supervision. These orders will be filled in November for delivery by the Scouts.

• Always collect money up front (with cannot fill order that haven’t been paid for)
• Checks payable to: BSA Pack 163

Show and Sell: Boys sell popcorn in front of busy store like Dale Hardware. We will have products available to sell, so customers can take home the popcorn right away.

Online: Boys work with parents to register at trails-end.com. Once there, you can send notes to friends and relatives out of the area and they can order online. Make sure to select Pack 163 so our Pack gets the credit.
