Dinner Details

The pack will be providing the dinner: turkey hot dogs and beef hamburgers. If you want to bring something else for dinner you are free to do so. Just let me know so that I can take that into consideration for menu planning.

The following (current) dens were asked to bring something: Coordinate with your den leaders

  • Webelos: Drinks. This could be additional water, punch, lemonade, sodas ( I have a case of water available )
  • Bears: Fruit for early snacks and for breakfast the next morning (Sunday)
  • Wolf: Dessert
  • Tigers (both): Salads

I will set up for making Root Beer starting after the Bridging ceremony.

I will also be making a Dutch Over cobbler (maybe two) after dinner.

Jim Dalton will be bringing breakfast food: pastries, OJ, etc. There will be coffee and I will be making a Mountain Man Breakfast in my Dutch Oven (tater tots, sausage, eggs, cheese).

Bring a chair to sit on. Dress appropriately for some wind and cold.

About Dairy Glen

Parking is in the Quarry Staging Area parking lot (not near the visitor center). It is a short walk on paved trail to the Dairy Glen campground.  One car at a time may be driven on the trail to the campground, so plan on unloading quickly and then turning around to go back to the parking lot. We have a number of parking passes, and additional ones may be purchased for a nominal fee.

Mayor Wasserman Speaks to Cub Scouts

Fremont Mayor Robert Wasserman was a guest speaker at the Cub Scout Pack 163 monthly Pack Meeting, held on May 31st at Brookvale Elementary School in Fremont. A former Boy Scout, Mayor Wasserman advised the Cub Scouts to continue with Scouting as it prepared him for his career as a Police Officer and later Police Chief. He said that when new Police recuits had Scouting experience they were always great officers. The Mayor said that the activity he most enjoyed as a Scout was camping.

The former Police Chief said that he enjoyed his career, and advised the young people to find a career that they enjoy. “Try to do something that you really like. You have choices”, the Mayor stated. He cautioned against doing something you don’t like doing, because by the time you retire you’ll hate everything. The Mayor said that he enjoys speaking to young people.

Many thanks to Mayor Robert Wasserman for coming to speak to Cub Scout Pack 163!

Next Pack Meeting - Tuesday, April 19

The Pack meeting is a bit early this month, due to Spring Break at the end of the month.  Please join us at 7 pm at Brookvale School on April 19th.
The following Dens are scheduled for:
  • Den 1 - Desserts
  • Den 3 - Skit or song
  • Den 4 - Tickets
  • Den 5 - Flags
  • Den 6 - Skit or song w/ Jeff’s den?
There will be a game of something like ‘Blind Man’s Faith’ that has one scout blindfolded and another scout has to give them directions in an obstacle like course.

Webelos II Den Receives Arrow of Light Award

Our Webelos II den, led by Mike Vigil, received their Arrow of Light awards at our monthly Pack meeting tonight. The Arrow of Light is the highest award in Cub Scouting and is the only Cub Scout award that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform. Congrats to our “graduating class” of Webelos II Scouts who have now bridged into Boy Scouting and beyond.

Our Pack meeting was also memorable in that we welcomed a brand new Den into our Pack. Den 6 is a new Tiger Cub den led by Minoti Amin. Thanks too to Ruth Dalton for the great looking and great tasting cakes for our celebration tonight.
