Scouting for Food

sff-logoThis is a great event where we will collect food for the needy. It’s a major effort by all Scouting units in the Bay Area.

November 12, Saturday, 9 am - Noon (approx), Brookvale School
We will be working with Boy Scout Troop 132 to pass out door hangers in the Brookvale neighborhood. This should take between 2-3 hrs, and those who arrive promptly will be treated to donuts and drinks.

November 19, Saturday, 9 am - Noon, Brookvale School
On this day we will be working with Boy Scout Troop 154 to pick up food that people leave in front of their homes (in the same Brookvale neighborhood).  Then we will meet at a central location to sort the food for delivery. Donuts and drinks for those who arrive early.

Trail Trek Hike at Redwood Creek Park, Oakland. October 16, 1 pm - 5 pm

This is a wonderful loop hike up the Stream Trail along Redwood Creek through a magnificent second-growth redwood forest which is over a century old. The hike is completed by looping back on the East Ridge Trail, which gives access to different scenery and great views. This is a longer hike. Therefore the BSA has designated this hike a Bears/Webelo hike.

Meet at the Canyon Meadow staging area at 1 pm (as indicated on the map).
Sunday, October 16
1 pm - 5 pm

Hike Statistics

  • Distance: 6 miles

September Pack Meeting on September 29th (Note: Date Change)

Our monthly Pack meeting will be held on our usual last-Tuesday of the month. This month, that’s September 27th.

Pack Meeting
Brookvale School
- Multi-Use Room
7 pm, September 27th
7 pm, Thursday, September 29th  (Note: New Date Due)

Sorry about the date change, folks. We did have approval to use the multi-use room on the 27th but calendars were not in sync with that approval so we’ve had to move the meeting to Thursday.

This meeting will include a recap of our summer activities, games, skits, and more. If you’re new to Scouting this would be a perfect time to come and visit, and maybe even join Scouting!

Sunday, August 28
11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Pack will provide hot dogs, brats, water, and other snacks

We will have a variety of activities and games, including a kids vs. parents soccer game and water balloon toss. Bring your favorite picnic chairs and accessories.

Update: here are some photos from the event, including some games such as water balloon toss and our donut eating competition (eating a donut from the end of a string is harder than it looks!). Our Cubmaster Robert Cook also brought some leather and we did some leathercraft too.
